《纽约时报》的一篇报道披露，谷歌日前要求那些正在准备发布基于Android的Google TV的消费类电子公司暂停发布计划，等待自己改进软件。

Google TV发布于今年秋季，初衷是将互联网交互与广播电视相融合。第一批产品由罗技和索尼发布，评测反馈不温不火。包括东芝、LG、夏普在内的多家主流电视厂商预计将在2011年1月的CES消费电子展上发布自己的Google TV。

报道中提到，三星不是唯一一家将在CES大展上发布与索尼和罗技的产品相近的Google TV的公司。

Google TV目前只发布于英特尔Atom处理器的硬件上，遭遇到很大的困难，因为很多电视台拒绝合作，停止了节目向Google TV的传播。

报道提到谷歌正在升级软件，准备增加程序商店并修复一些bug。

Google TV的官方博客在12月15日发文强调了Google TV的软件栈拥有升级能力，日后将会获得新的功能。文章还公开了通过Netflix搜索电影电视的工具以及通过Android手机遥控Google TV的程序。但Google TV博客没有对发布延迟进行评论。

一些观察家认为，既然Google TV现在错过了圣诞购物季和节后销售季，有效的发布时间很可能会延迟一年。

分析人士指出，谷歌虽然在电脑领域取得了非凡成功，但他们没有从文化上准备好消费市场的竞争。谷歌缺乏充当好的合作伙伴和打造生态圈的经验。

Google Inc. has asked consumer electronics companies that were preparing to launch TVs running the Android-based Google TV to put their plans on hold while it improves the software, according to a New York Times article.

Google TV, intended to be the merger of broadcast TV reception with Internet interactivity, was launched in the fall, to luke-warm reviews, on boxes from Logitech and Sony. A number of mainstream TV suppliers including Toshiba, LG and Sharp were expected to launch Google TVs at the Consumer Electronics Show, coming up in January 2011.

Samsung is not the only company expected to launch Google TV products at the show with appliances similar to those from Sony and Logitech, the report said.

Google TV, which so far has only launched on Intel Atom processor based hardware, has proved a difficult launch with a number of broadcasters refusing to cooperate and banning the transmission of their programs on the platform.

Google is now set to upgrade the software adding an apps store and a number of bug fixes, the report said.

The official Google TV blog a post on Wednesday (Dec. 15) stressed the ability to upgrade the software stack over time with additional features and disclosed improved tools for finding movies and TV shows via Netflix and a remote control application for smartphones running Android software. However, there is no comment on any delay to equipment launches there.

The fact that Google TV will miss out on both the pre-holiday gift and post-holiday sales seasons will likely delay the effective launch by a year, according to some observers.

Observers are stating that Google's whirlwind success in computers has not prepared it culturally for the rigors of the consumer electronics market. Google has little experience of being a good partner or ecosystem builder and this has been highlighted by the jerky start-stop nature of the roll out.
